Advanced Photoshop

Week 10

This is a digital collage utilizing different Ai generated artworks and Photoshop. I wanted to create something with humanoid robots because the world is moving in that direction and since I utilized AI. Robots are being created to be able to do the things humans do like serve in a restaurant or take out the trash. So this is a robot waiting for the tea kettle to boil. I over laid a childlike robot swinging to represent the activity of play. The phrase is to invite the question and to ponder where we are going with the creation of robots and having them replace basic tasks for us. Will we allow a robot to play for us? Is that possible? What does all of it mean?

Title of this piece is ” Universe is watching”. This is a digital collage utilizing AI generated components from several different artworks I prompted. I have been curious lately by puppets and bubbles so they worked their way into this piece. The glowing eyes are representative of the sky as witness to all that happens here on earth. I wanted to have a humanoid figure and an alien figure both gazing down being retrospective in their own worlds oblivious that there is a greater perspective above uniting them. The Alien figure is crying to nourish the desert with water. The humanoid figure is in a bubble with plants trying to self sustain yet unable to float away because they are rooted to earth. The piece is open for interpretation however.

Week 9

Movie trailer analysis

Young Frankenstien movie trailer

I chose to analyze this movie trailer for while viewing it I felt immediately inspired. It has accessibility to be recreated without extensive editing skills. It utilizes a classic style, humor and minimalist approach that feels appealing.

There is enough detail and dialogue to capture our attention but not enough to feel like the entire story was given away. Though the original story of Frankenstein is considered a Gothic horror, the tone of this trailer is clearly comedic. The audio matches well with the timing of transitional shots and text. The close up shots of the characters introductions while paired with the actors names in stylized text, created a satirical and old time Hollywood feel. There is a nostalgic predictability to the structure yet it feels unique in playfulness, due to the editing and compositing of visual, audio and dialogue.

Week 4

For the above image I downloaded the colorful ink image from Pixabay and then added the text in Photoshop. I generated the blue orbs in Midjourney to add as above text layers.

Tutorial variations

Woodgrain texture for retro-revival and maybe for wild-west

Actions file to convert to black and white

Downloaded and played vintage action from Christina’s website for this cloud image below. (second slide is the original)

Week 3

For these text graphics I utilized images of clouds and of an ammonite that I had generated by creating prompts in Mid-journey. I then brought the images into photoshop and played with different techniques like blend modes. In the first graphic I used a cloud brush I made to overlay added cloud textures.

Week 2 (playing with brushes)

For this image I used different fog brushes and the posterize technique on the portrait I took of a friend. I replaced the background with one generated from mid-journey.

Week 1

Background change

For this first photo, I had used a background generated with Mid journey.

The first photo is my edited version of the second photo, where I removed the background and added a new one to be less distracting.

Water Manipulation

Photo manipulation using water. I used the second two images in the slide to create the first image.
